Telephone Line Backup Services
Telephone Line Backup Services
Alarmtech's security systems are manufactured to communicate with the central monitoring station through a standard (digital) telephone line by default. However, if the telephone line to which our system has been connected is not in service, no signals can be sent to the monitoring station without the presence of some form of secondary or backup communications. Telephone lines can be accidentally cancelled, out of service while the telephone company performs repairs and can also be tampered with by intruders intending to defeat the system's ability to communicate.

Comments:

Alarmtech's philosophy on communication to the monitoring station is simple - the more connections the better.

If there are a number of different ways to send signals we would use as many as we can because there is then a much greater chance that the signals will be received.

Two most common forms of backup today:

1. Control Channel Cellular Communication - an additional signaling device is connected to your security system that uses the analog cellular network to send signals from your premises to the monitoring station. The signals are 100% wireless from your location to the monitoring station.

2. Internet Communication - An additional signaling device is connected to your security system and your internet (connection required) which sends alarm signals over the internet to the monitoring station. Keep in mind that internet connections that depend upon a working telephone line may not be a suitable form of connection in this case. The signals are, of course, secure and encrypted to the same level (or better) than banks use!
